Early 20th Century Silver plated ‘Chocolatiere’ – a Chocolate Making Machine coming from an old café or restaurant in France. In early Art-Deco style the machine dismantles into three components,- the 3 legged base with side holes which has a copper pipe through it which would have carried hot water to heat the chocolate, the main middle unit with internal white china cylinder to hold the hot chocolate which was dispensed through the front tap , and a domed lid surmounted with black porcelain knob. An interesting and decorative café fitting from a past era.

Bronze Menu Sign from French Restaurantby Aeology
Bronze Menu Sign from French Restaurant
An unusual Menu sign from a Restaurant in Paris , France. Made in Bronze, and with reclining maidens and trumpeting cherubs shown in relief, the metal sign probably had a wooden back board with a door which allowed the menu of the day to be inserted. What remains is an interesting and decorative relic of 19th century gastronomy !
Measures 27 inches high x 16 wide. Circa 1865-1895. In reasonable worn condition.
Vintage ‘Riviera’ Bongo Drumsby Aeology
Vintage ‘Riviera’ Bongo Drums
Decorative and Fun Set of hand-decorated wooden Bongo Drums . I found these in the south of France in a town on the ‘Riviera’.
A relic of the 1940s-1950s, days of the Afro-Cuban Jazz music craze and later Salsa, I think this set may have originated from Cuba. The 3 drums are beautifully crafted in wood and the decorations are hand painted. The 2 larger drums are set together on a metal stand measuring 39 inches high x 31 wide. The small drum now sits separately, without the metal rod that originally clamped it in front of the larger two drums.
Circa 1948-1960. In very good condition with a small amount of wear. The animal hide drum tops are virtually perfect.

Antique Art Nouveau Bronze Urnby Marylebone Antiques
Antique Art Nouveau Bronze Urn
Very decorative large antique urn with some beautiful details & some wonderful shapes. It’s very much of the Art Nouveau period in age & design. I’m fairly sure that it’s solid bronze & it’s very heavy. You can see in the images that there is some rubbing in places on the figures. Please enlarge all of the images to see the amazing details. I would say this vase is French & it will date from around the 1880-90’s period.
Approx Width – 13″, 33 cm
Height – 14.5″, 37 cm

Folk Art Fairground Target Head from Franceby Aeology
Wonderful example of a late 19th or early 20th century carved and painted wooden 'Jeu de Massacre' Fairground Target Head from France.
The 'Jeu de Massacre' was a popular fairground target game throughout France where , similar to the Aunt Sally games in England and 'Punks' in America, balls were thrown to knock down the figuratively carved targets- usually prominent local or national figures, politicians, enemy leaders, or foreign or ethnic stereotypes. The wooden target heads were usually hinged on to a shelf or bar so that the impact would knock them over backwards ' The 'African' head is large and has a powerful presence creating an important piece of folk art. It shows the markings on the flat back where it has been hinged for attachment.
Measures 16 inches high x 7 wide x 5 deep. In very solid if knocked about condition. Circa 1880-1920
Bottom photo shows a complete set of smaller Massacre figures that I bought some years ago in France. direct from an old fairground family.
