Antique Edwardian Satin Wood Cheval Mirrorby Marylebone Antiques
Antique Edwardian Satin Wood Cheval Mirror
Very rare & impressive large antique satinwood full length cheval mirror that dates from around the 1890-1910 period. This cheval mirror has to be the nicest example I’ve ever seen. I don’t think you will find many of these in satinwood on the market & not of this quality. The top of the frame has the most amazing array of hand carved flowers with the ‘Prince of Wales Feathers’ in the centre. The finials on each side on the top are also carved out with flowers. The side supports are fluted with more carvings in the middle & at the base. There are also many more fine details on the frame like ebony inlays, decorative oval panels, carvings on the legs & more finials. The shaped mirror is naturally bevelled & the mirror frame is also inlay with ebony. This cheval mirror has the original embossed brass side fittings that will tighten up to hold the mirror at the required angle. It also sits on casters. This really is a unique item & is in good original condition. Please enlarge all the images.
Width – 28″, 72 cm
Depth at Base – 20″, 50 cm
Height – 76″, 192 cm

Rare Antique Victorian Pub Mirror from Scotlandby Aeology
Rare Antique Victorian Pub Mirror from Scotland
Scottish Pub Mirror from the late Victorian era, advertising ‘Pattison’s Scotch Whiskies’ in its original carved wood frame with symbolic thistle motifs. The bevelled edged mirror has lost some color from the acid- etched lettering and medallion over its long life, but is in stable condition. The maker’s name ‘Mcphail and Co Ltd. Glasgow’ is inscribed on the bevel at the base of the mirror just below the coat-of-arms and medallion.. With a flat shelf on the base of the frame, the mirror can be stood as well as being fixed to a wall with mirror plates or with hooks and cord.
Circa 1880-1900. In reasonably good condition for its age, though with some spotting and various imperfections in the lettering, and some tiny wood pieces missing on the outer frame carving. Nevertheless a very rare and desirable piece for the collector.
Measures 36 inches high x 28 wide.

Bevelled Bar Mirror with Venetian Mirrored Frame
Very handsome Bevelled edge Mirror from a Parisian Bar with ‘Venetian’ style acid-etched & mirrored frame.

This fine example, which shows reflections of the stock in my shop.
Measures 44 inches x 32 – and can of course be hung either vertically (portrait) or horiziontally (landscape).
In excellent condition.
Circa 1920- 1935.
Made in Venice , Italy.

Antique Chippendale style Mirror from England
Fine Quality Early 19th century English 'Chippendale' period Mirror in marquetry Walnut frame . With bevelled mercury silvered glass, the mirror is set into a hand carved walnut frame with a carved & gilded 'bird of paradise' set into the pediment ,a gilded edge moulding and an inlaid marquetry cartouche set in the bottom apron.
A bit posher than the sort of antique I normally sell, this is a fine quality piece from the classic age of English furniture.
Late Georgian to early Victorian period ( 1760-1830)
Measures 34 inches tall x 22 wide
In good condition with some fashionable tarnishing/deterioration to the mercury mirroring. (The primary photo shows a false standardised mirror background according to Ruby Lane's rules- look at the second (original ) photo to get a truer view of how the mirror glass actually looks) An old wood repair also showing on reverse of the frame.
Naive Folk-Art Mirror from Franceby Aeology
Naive Folk-Art Mirror from France
An unusual carved wooden Frame with added mirror and date ‘1886’. Hand-carved with central flower motif , intricate vine with hanging buches of grapes , songbird etc and initials EG and GG, this is a really beautiful on-off ‘naive’ artwork by an unknown ‘whittler’ in late 19th century France. The antique style mirror glass has been added by myself (It could therefore have been carved originally as a frame for a picture- markings on the reverse indicating something once having been attached behind central display).
In good condition for its age, there are the visible vertical joins above the central display and beneath it to the right of the bird carving. The wood itself is almost an inch in thickness.
Measures 23 inches high x 16 wide.
