Collage Featuring Beautiful Antique Papers by Artist Huw Griffith
A fine collage featuring beautiful antique papers.
The abstract forms and colours quiety allow the viewer to create their own perceptions. This is a peaceable work, neither reaching out for attention or carrying any particular message.
Huw Griffith's work is often a spontaneous process. A meditation, certainly.
These pieces are often created on automatic. When ones mind is relaxed and without fear or boundary, the best work can often be created.
The collage has been placed into an antique frame which has been reworked by Huw and is part of the overall artwork.
Set of 12 hand coloured Bullfight Engravings
A marvellous and rare series of 12 hand-coloured Prints showing the various ‘stages’ of a Bullfight. Dating to the late 19th century (1875-1895 ),the scenes numbered from 1 to 12 and with inscriptions in French ( Spanish bullfighting has always been very popular in south-western France) ,the prints having been engraved from original pen and ink drawings which have then been painted in watercolours. They depict the stages of a Spanish ‘corrida’ including the ‘Picador’ (who comes to grief), the setting on of dogs, placing of the banderillas, the final act with Matador and cape , and with the bull being dragged away at the very end. A savage pageant which even in Spain is gradually losing popularity, but with a visual impact which has always interested painters like Picasso.
The prints have been re-framed recently and are set behind non-reflective glass.
Sizes 14 inches x 20 each approx.
