A large 19th century oil on canvas, provincial folk art, of a chestnut horse in his stable. The horse’s name is MALDON and his owner’s initials are JBH. Signed lower left E Garraway 1890. Mounted in a burr maple frame with gold slip. Artist Note: Edward Garraway was an accomplished animal painter, active in the 1870’s and 1880’s. He exhibited chiefly at the Suffolk Street Gallery in London from 1875 and was known for his paintings of horses, dogs and donkeys. Dimensions include the frame.
