    The Space Within 2

Mixed media on canvas panel 56 x 46 cm

    Size
    56 x 46 cm

My work is inspired by the natural world, by landscape and organic form. My interests lie in how we see and experience this world, and how I can translate these ways of seeing into painting. Gathering visual information through walking, sketching and photography my semi-abstract paintings are built through layers of paint and collage. Juggling space, form, colour and light, these paintings may move away from observed reality but their origins are always grounded in the truth as I see it.

The condition is excellent for their age, we have had them fully re-upholstered in a beautifully soft faux fur fabric, one in black and one in white to contrast with the shells. Remnants

Abstract Collage by Artist Huw Griffith

DECOLLAGE: Layers of advertising posters are glimpsed from beneath 19th Century French ephemera, film posters from ‘30s, ‘40s & ‘50s, graphite crayons & household paint.

Part of a series of work exploring decomposition, the passing of time – inspired by abandoned and timeworn billboards.

The artist’s artist, he takes inspiration from found objects, such as old letters, ephemera and frames, picked up on his travels and from trawling antiques fairs. He is intensely instinctive by nature and shows scant regard for creative constraints and any artistic rulebook, preferring the peripheries of the art world and the traditional marketplace, he started off selling his work on the street and has worked his way up from there. The son of the late actor, Kenneth Griffith, his aesthetic has one foot in the historical past, and the other in Outsider Art.

Artistry runs in the blood on both sides of his family. Down the maternal line, Griffith is a direct descendent of the showman William Hagar, a Pioneer of British cinema who ‘followed the coal’, bringing handmade films to audiences who had never before seen a moving image. As a nod to his silver screen heritage, Griffith sources vintage film posters for their early colors and Primitive images.

  • Antique Irish William IV Period Davenport in Rosewood

Antique Irish William IV Period Davenport in Rosewood

    by InteriorBoutiques

A fantastic antique William IV period rosewood Davenport of the highest order. This was made in Ireland between 1830-1840, it has an impressed makers stamp that reads “WOODS, DUBLIN”.
It is of amazing quality, beautifully made with many fine features. The leather top writing surface slides forward to give an overhanging workspace. The top has a pierced brass gallery and inset leather top, it lifts up to reveal additional storage space.
There are dummy drawers on one side, the other side has a full bank of drawers, all of which have wonderful brass handles. Above the functioning drawers there is an additional very clever narrow pen holder drawer that opens halfway to a point where it can be locked and swivelled on a hinge. When unlocked, this provides additional secure storage.
The rosewood has a beautiful colour and stunning grain patterns throughout. It is finished nicely on all sides so can be used as a free standing item, the bun feet have concealed brass casters and this rolls smoothly.
We have had this sympathetically re-polished, the condition is fantastic for its age, with just the right amount of patina and wear.

    Width – 22 inches , 56 cm
    Depth – 19 inches , 49 cm
    Height – 36 inches , 92 cm
