  • Battlecry Abstract Collage By Artist Huw Griffithout of stock

Battlecry Abstract Collage By Artist Huw Griffith

    by Huw Griffith

    Battlecry

A collage depicting the emancipation of women in society.
A bold and stark image should indeed provoke a reaction.
Griffith grew up in an all women household.
His mother was a strong influence and and a feminist.

The collage has been placed into an antique frame which has been reworked by Huw and is part of the overall artwork.

    Size 78cm H x 67cm W x 3cm D

The artist takes inspiration from found objects, such as old letters, ephemera and frames, picked up on his travels and from trawling antiques fairs. He is intensely instinctive by nature and shows scant regard for creative constraints and any artistic rulebook, preferring the peripheries of the art world and the traditional marketplace, he started off selling his work on the street and has worked his way up from there. The son of the late actor, Kenneth Griffith, his aesthetic has one foot in the historical past, and the other in Outsider Art.

Artistry runs in the blood on both sides of his family. Down the maternal line, Griffith is a direct descendent of the showman William Hagar, a Pioneer of British cinema who ‘followed the coal’, bringing handmade films to audiences who had never before seen a moving image. As a nod to his silver screen heritage, Griffith sources vintage film posters for their early colors and Primitive images.

  • Set of 4 Antique Victorian Ornithological Lithographsout of stock

Set of 4 Antique Victorian Ornithological Lithographs

    by InteriorBoutiques

An absolutely stunning set of four antique Victorian ornithological lithograph prints. These were printed by Waterlow and Sons around the 1860-1880’s.

We are unsure of the artist, but they are superbly executed and Waterlow and Sons were very prominent wood engravers in Victorian London, so they were most certainly by someone of very high skill and repute.

The subjects are all incredibly beautiful with gorgeous colours and detail. Each lithograph depicts different species of birds, plants and insects, with the Latin names printed below.

They are framed in amazing faux bamboo gilt wood frames, all are in excellent condition for their age. There is just some very slight discolouration to the white backgrounds here and there, seen in the images.

    Width – 24 inches , 60 cm
    Depth – 1 inc , 3 cm
    Height – 31 inches , 78 cm
